10 Things That Make Me Happy: Ill Seen, Ill Said

I am so excited to have Jane guest blogging here today. She's a Journalist by day and the brilliant blogger behind Ill Seen, Ill Said by night.

This past Fall I did my first ever guest post for Jane on Ill Seen, Ill Said about where I blog from and had so much fun being a part of her great series. Working with her on my post was such a great experience.

After you've read Jane's 10 things that make her happy you have to head over to Jane's blog. You'll find yourself reading through her archives of fabulous posts.

Thanks for being here today Jane!

Jane here from Ill Seen, Ill Said! I love Caitlin’s 10 Favorite Things feature, so am over the moon to share my list today! In nearly all things, I admire simplicity, quiet beauty and integrity through time. I hope that years from now I’ll be able to look back and still love these 10 things.

1. Call of the Cuckoo by Sanna Annukka has definitely been calling my name, although I can’t decide where I’d hang it (which is just as well, since I can’t really afford it!) UK 220

2. One of my 2010 resolutions is to have more houseplants. The Bigarra plant pot is utter perfection. It’s hard to go wrong with matt black and organic form. IKEA: $9.99

3. It’s so rare to find a chaise that looks both comfortable and streamlined. This one from 18Karat checks all the right boxes! Price upon request.

4. This Lines and Arrows cushion has been one of my Etsy favorites for the longest time and I really should just buy it already. Every time I look at it I love it more. $38

5. I must admit, I spend an alarming number of winter nights lounging around in my skivvies. I can never resist beautiful basics like this bralet from Bodas. UK40

6. I love scented candles all year around, but this DayNa Decker candle crackles like a fire so is particularly comforting on cold winter nights, which Canada has no shortage of. $54

7. I dare not wear my new Lanvin dance shoes outside until the snow melts completely, but every time I look at them I can’t help but coo. Kirna Zabete: $545

8. I’ve been dipping into Philip Larkin’s poetry a lot lately. I always seem to find something there that matches my current mood and moves me deeply. Amazon: $25

9. I woke up to 2010 with a massive dose of wanderlust. My horizons are set on Iceland, Portland and San Francisco this year and I’m planning trips further afield beyond that! Plane from 1stDibs.

10. I’m extremely fussy about watches needing to be unfussy. Sometimes, plainness really is the most difficult thing to find! This perfectly proportioned watch exhibits the simplicity and style I crave in all things. MoMa: $850

Oh Jane, I love how cohesive and clearly articulated all of your "happy things" are. I'm all over the board when it comes to design, I love too much and sometimes wish I could have such a clear vision. Everything you chose is beautiful and timeless, but I especially love the art and the chaise. Those are definitely "forever" pieces. And you know I'll be visiting IKEA this weekend for that little bit of goodness!

nkp is so right - you have such a clear vision of what you like and that makes me so jealous, having design ADD the way I do! Love those Lanvins!

here's the thing about jane. her finds are so well-curated and true that i can't help but think of her and sigh.

it's like these picks are all treasures. and those slippers made my heart stop for a second.

no worries. the bralet started it again.
