With the sun and bright blue skies still gracing us with its presence, all I can think about is having a deck or outdoor patio. I imagine eating al fresco as the sun sets over the bay . . . maybe we'll get lucky and have one in our next home. When you I don’t have something in my home, I always dream up what I would do if I did have it. All of the above images have little bits that are dream-worthy.
What would you look for in an outdoor patio or deck? Would you use it to lounge around or to host a little dinner party? Ahhhhh . . . the possibilities and have a little oasis to call you own.

What a busy week, I've been running around working 24/7, but when you love what you do working around the clock doesn't seem to matter. I've posted this office multiple times, I find it an incredibly inspiring place to work day in and day out - don't you? Someday, I hope to have a office this beautiful!
With that said, I've been turning to my trusty skinny jeans, camel tote and adding a touch of spring with open toed heels and a light weight top. The perfect combination for my hectic schedule. Do you have a go-to outfit that you gravitate to when you're on the run?
At least tomorrow is Friday . . . hip hip hooray!

I've got a entire wall above my bar cabinet in my dining room that needs some serious help. I've been contemplating what to do with the blank wall and I've finally come to the conclusion that an art wall is the way to go. I have begun my quest to find beautiful art and treasure to fill this space. Labels: art wall, decor, design, domino magazine, interior design
I couldn’t be happier to have one of my first friends in the blogosphere guest post for me today. We found out early on that we had a lot in common. Crystal not only manages her inspirational blog, but also works in the publishing world, does freelance writing and is working on a top-secret business plan, which is very exciting! Wouldn’t we all like to know more? She promises we'll all find out soon.
When I got Crystal’s 10 Things that Make Me Happy list I fell in love with everything and I think you will too.

Today is a sad day; Condé Nast announced they will be shutting down four magazines. All of us will miss Gourmet, Cookie, Modern Bride and Elegant Bride. The NY Times reports that the shutdown is taking place because of financial reasons. I’m stilling getting over the fact that they closed Domino, and now this. Oy veh!
Condé Nast, I don’t understand why you keep shutting down the magazines that have loyal readers (cough, cough, why do you keep Architectural Digest around)? At the very least you could keep images and articles that we love online. Everyday I wish you had kept Domino online just for the images, but that didn’t happen. I’m hoping it will happen with Gourmet.
R.I.P Gourmet, Cookie, Modern Bride and Elegant Bride. We will miss you!

The George Sherlock sofa is outstanding. It adds the pop of color that people often don't have in their home or are too afraid to use. Another favorite of mine is the chandelier. Not only is it beautiful by itself but with the reflection in the mirror it adds even more impact to the room. Oh, I forgot to mention Jenna's outfit. If only I could work a J. Crew. Sigh.
I'm usually not a big fan of black walls but in Jenna's house they work so well. I love the way the fireplace pops out of the wall because of the drastic contrast between the fireplace and walls.
I've always been a fan of bedrooms and bathrooms being attached in this was. To me, it would make me feel like I had my own little abode in my very own house. Plus, the fact that if doesn't have a shower curtain. Oh la la!
This is my FAVORITE part of every apartment, especially this one. I mean why wouldn't it be. Plus, the fact that it's filled with everything J. Crew is truly divine. She's changed her closet since her apartment was photographed in Domino. I love the fact that everything is exposed. I would kill to have a rolling rack of clothes and to have shelves for my shoes like Jenna does. One thing that is unique about Jenna and Vincent's dressing room is that it's decorated like another room in their apartment. If I had a dressing room, I would do the same.Labels: domino magazine, jcrew, jenna lyons, livingetc

Deborah Needleman, Editor-in-Chief of Domino Magazine was an inspiration to interior designers throughout the world. It’s heartbreaking that we have to live without Domino Magazine these days. I came across these photos taken of Deborah’s Tribeca loft in New York City by the New York Times. The way she designed her loft is what I aspire to have in the future. Although it’s a loft, she made it feel like there are different rooms/areas of the one big living room. One thing that draws me to her design aesthetic is how she combines antiques with modern pieces, like the lucite coffee table. The color palette Deborah uses is refreshing and natural. She painted all of the walls white, which was a Domino trick. Because she has everything so calm and simple in her loft you can tell that it is a peaceful place to live; Even with the kid’s castle set up in the living room. But that’s what makes it feel real.

In the dining room, I love the mix of high-low end pieces she mixes throughout the room. The table and chairs with the huge paper lantern is one example that I can’t get enough of.

In the master bedroom, the bed looks simple yet chic with the headboard that Needleman designed herself. She also uses the round lantern effect that she has throughout the house in several rooms.

I love the color used in the kid’s rooms. Especially the LOVE pillow.
