10 Things That Make Me Happy: From the Right Bank

From the Right Bank to the Left Coast, and now she’s moving down south. I want to welcome Ally from none other than The Right Back, I’m so excited to have her here today. I feel lucky that Ally took the time to write a guest post with her busy moving schedule. She’s got some amazing things on her list, I’ve even added of few of her things to my ongoing wish list.

Ally was one of the first followers here on Sacramento Street and since then we have found out that we have a similar sense of style when it comes to interior design.

Both of us have lived and traveled all over the world. I know what it’s like to pack up and move,  so I want to wish Ally the best of luck with her move. I can’t wait to see how she decorates her new Atlanta home. Thank you Ally for guest blogging here today!

Thanks again Ally. Have an amazing road trip to Atlanta!

Deck the Halls!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around the apartment, with decorations being put up. Getting in the holiday spirit has never been a challenge for me. My eucalyptus wreath is on the front door and ornaments are being unpacked.

Every ornament I unpack brings back a different memory from my childhood. I love the story each ornament has behind it. I'm lucky to have a mom that passes beautiful Christmas treasures down to me.

This holiday season look out for a couple fantastic gift guides I've be put together, inspirational holiday decor ideas and a few holiday stories from my childhood (I promise they're hilarious).

I'm also very excited for the guest bloggers for my series, 10 Things That Make Me Happy. All of them are filled with amazing gift ideas.

Oh, I love this time of year. Happy Holidays!

Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving

Tomorrow morning I’m driving down to Carmel for Thanksgiving. I’ll be signing off for the rest of the weekend so I can spend quality time with family and friends.

There are so many things to be thankful for this year. First and foremost I am thankful for my loving fiancé, my family and all of the support they give me. I am also thankful for my incredible friends who are always by my side; I don’t know what I would do without you guys. Finally, I am thankful for the chance to love, for happiness and health and for the chance to always fulfill my dreams. What are you thankful for this year?

I hope all of you have a fabulous Thanksgiving, wherever you’re celebrating. Enjoy the day, whether it’s with family or friends, and most importantly, travel safe.

xo, Caitlin

A Few Things I Love About Thanksgiving

I love being with family for the holidays. Along with that, I also enjoy the company of friends and family around the dinner table, watching Eric snuggle with my aunts dog (love this photo), sitting around the fireplace talking to my cousins and of course eating pumpkin pie for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like . . .

Picking out a wreath is like finding the perfect pair of shoes. It's the first thing people see when they come over for the holidays. Every year I head to Birch, in San Francisco because I know I'll find the perfect wreath because she has a great selection. Not to mention that when you walk out you're filled with so much inspiration.  I can't wait to see what I find this afternoon.

I Love . . . Kate Spade

Where do I even begin with both of these pairs of shoes? I’m in love. The black heel with the ivory satin carnation on top is to die for chic. Quite possibly the perfect shoe for my Portland bridal shower, oh yes!

Now onto the sequins; there’s nothing much to say except that they’re fabulous. A touch of holiday spirit in my eyes.

I have to admit that I bought both and I’m looking at them right now. So beautiful.

Guest Blogging @ Ill Seen, Ill Said!

Today I’m guesting over at the lovely Ill Seen, Ill Said. I’m honored to be part of her Where We Blog From series. Jane gives us a  peek into peoples homes to see what part of the house they may blog from. Not only do I love this weekly series, but I also enjoy Jane's well thought out posts about interior design, fashion or whatever else might be on her mind.

Please stop by Jane’s blog and say hello!

Inspiration: Decorating for Thanksgiving

Since I’ve been preparing and thinking about Thanksgiving this entire weekend, I wanted to start the week off with a little decorating inspiration. Even though I’m not hosting Thanksgiving, I still like to spruce up the house with decorations. This year I’m leaning towards more neutral palette of ivories, dark chocolate browns, and maybe even a touch of blue.

The way the candles line the entire table makes a simple setting look dramatic. Festive patterned table cloths paired with deep blues add a bit more texture. And for the feathers, well I love this trend.

What’s your inspiration for Thanksgiving? I’ve got to say that this year I’m going for a more neutral palette, but I know some of you probably have something more colorful planned. I’d love to hear about your inspiration.

Happy (Rain or Shine) Weekend

Dark clouds are rolling in and the city is getting gloomy. I'm hoping that the rain predicted in the forecast doesn't come tumbling down, but from the looks of sky it's definitely coming.

This weekend I'll be preparing the house for family comin
g next week. Grocery shopping is in order to make my amazing cranberry sauce. It's my favorite part of Thanksgiving. I'm hoping I can find some orange fall flowers to help bring color into the apartment since the sky is so grey; I may even get some greenery. Do you think it's too early? I'm debating.

I hope all of you have an amazing weekend. Even if it's pouring outside.

You're Invited: Erica Tanov Event

If you live in the Bay Area stop by Erica Tanov in San Francisco this evening for a special event with sefte and In Fiore. We'll have sips and nibbles for you to enjoy. Plus, amazing company.

In case you were wondering, I've worked at Erica Tanov since college and continue to work there two days a month, even though I have a full-time job. What can I say, all of us are best friends, so it's hard to leave.

Hope some of you come by!

A Pop of Color: Caramel

About a month ago I came across these two images on delight by design and I haven’t been able to get them out of my head. I’ve been finding myself bundling up more when I leave for work in the morning. This caramel hued shall she’s wearing is something I could use on a daily basis.

Where do I even begin with this amazing room? First of all, I love the texture of the mirror and the fact that it reflects the paintings and unique mirrors on the opposite wall. Moving to the bed, this headboard is “bananas” (I’m sorry, I had to say it). The room is decorated in black and ivory, which makes the room feel balanced (especially with that leopard rug, oh la la)! Every little element that went into this room makes it work and that’s why I’ve been obsessing about it for over a month.

Thanks Blair for the inspiration behind this post.

Wednesday Wedding Update: Organizing

Organzine should be my middle name because it's something I've been doing for the past week and a half. I've been organizing our guest list, writing the language for our invitations, figuring out the dates for the bridal showers and the bachelorette party. Oh my have I felt overwhelmed, but what can I say, it's all been so much fun.

In the next week or so we should be getting the proof for our wedding invitation. I'm at the edge of my seat waiting for it to arrive and I know Cheree Berry and her team won't disappoint. Their amazing designers and I can't wait to share the proof with all of you!

On the Mend

I’ve been in bed the past four days with the worst cold. Yesterday, I finally took a walk to the grocery store because I was going stir crazy. Do you blame me? I promise I'll have new updates starting tomorrow, but today I need to take a day off to get back in the groove at work.

Thanks for understanding!

10 Things That Make Me Happy: coco+kelley

I couldn’t be more excited about having Cassandra from coco+kelley here today. Everyday I look forward to the beautifully thought out blog posts that Cassie brings all of us. Each and every post has a mix of fashion and interior design. From color palettes to up and coming trends, she’s always one step ahead of everyone.  Her “Rooms from the Runway” is something she is well known for and it is also featured on LoftLife, where she blogs every Tuesday.

Cassandra is not only the author of coco+kelley but also recently launched her own Seattle-based Interior & Event Design company that provides virtual decor services and party planning advice for clients across the world.

Not a lot of people know this but it was coco+kelley that inspired me to start my own blog. I’ve been reading it since Cassie first started her blog. It was an email exchange we had back in April, where I asked her for advice. Cassie told me to write about what I love.  With that advice, a month later I had the courage to start Sacramento Street. Thank you Cassie for giving me the inspiration and advice to start my own blog.

************************************************************************

I'm so happy to be guesting on Sacramento Street today because Caitlin has always been so incredibly supportive of me and my own blog that it's about time I return the favor! Plus, I love stopping by here to see the gorgeous photos and resources she is so good at selecting. I hope that my Top 10 will add to already fabulous picks of the guest bloggers before me! Usually the pieces on my current lust list aren't just incredibly gorgeous... they're also incredibly high end, so I hope I don't send you all into sticker shock. For me, though, these pieces provide inspiration for hunting down great look-alikes or attempting some simple DIY to achieve the same aesthetic. And, every once in a while, a serious quality splurge.

Happy Weekend + Link Love:

The weather is getting chilly and the air is crisp. It’s definitely going to be a cozy weekend hanging out with my fiancé and friends at home. I'm thinking home-cooked meals and movie nights.

I’m looking forward to a little day trip with the girls to Napa on Sunday. I don’t know if us girls are more excited about the outlets, or having a fabulous lunch while sipping some wine.

If you haven’t read any of these posts, they are a must read!

What fall brings…rosy pears, flowing drapes and cozy fur blankets.

Art of the Trench.

Thanksgiving inspiration; a simple twist on a classic.

November palettes.

Eternity in each moment.

Orange crush.

Take a sneak peek into five fabulous bloggers homes.

Have an amazing weekend luvies. I hope all of you have cozy weekend.

Highlights from the Ruby Press + Viv&Ingrid Party

Last night’s party was beyond fabulous. Just take look at some of the photos I snapped on my iPhone. Miette was packed to the brim with tons of fashionable people from the Bay Area. Thanks Melissa for the invite!

A Pop of Color: Gold

Who doesn’t love a pop of gold in their wardrobe and in their home? I do! The texture of this top is fabulous; I wish I had this outfit to wear for a girl’s night out.

All of you know that I’m currently obsessed with all paper, and this gold pattern adds a little pizzazz to this modern, but neutral dining room. Wish our landlord would let us wallpaper at least one wall in our apartment, but that’s very unlikely.

Viv&Ingrid Ten Year Anniversary Party Tonight!

I can’t wait for this event tonight, which is being put on by the fabulous Melissa Davis and her Ruby Press team. They’re throwing a carnival of sweets themed party at one of my favorite sweet shops, Miette in Hayes Valley, San Francisco. I’m excited for the homemade cotton candy and Cracker Jacks!

If you don’t live in San Francisco, be sure to head over to the viv&ingrid's Virtual Party, complete with it’s own jewelry raffle! Good luck to anyone that enters, I hear it’s going to be good.

Wednesday Wedding Update: Bachelorette Party Weekend

The only decision I wanted to make in terms of my bachelorette party weekend was the location. My requirements were something close to San Francisco, warm weather, bright blue pools, a spa, some good shopping and of course fun places to go out at night. Palm Springs was the perfect place, especially since I’ve never been and I’ve always wanted to go, so why not now?

I’m jumping up and down with excitement! I know my maid of honor {Nicole} and bridesmaids will do an amazing job planning the weekend. Woohoo, can it be March yet?

Please comment with any and all recommendations you have. I’m sure my bridal party is reading this {love you ladies}!

10 Things That Make Me Happy: Apartment #34

Today I want to welcome Erin from Apartment #34. Her blog is an inspiration to all of us out in the blogosphere because of her keen fashion sense and her eye for décor. You’re always guaranteed a fabulous post everyday. I feel lucky that Erin agreed to be a guest here today because she’s knee deep in planning a destination wedding, something I am in the middle of as well. Both of us are getting married weeks apart in April!

Besides planning a wedding, which feels like a full time job, she works in communications for not-for-profits in and around the Pacific Northwest. On top of that Erin also has to also maintain her uber popular blog, Apartment #34 everyday.

Im thrilled to have Erin here today. Thanks for taking the time to guest blog today and I can’t wait to keep reading more about your wedding planning.

Hi Sacramento Street fans. I was so thrilled when Caitlin asked me to share my 10 things that make me happy with you! It wasn't the easiest of tasks, at first to think of 10 things and then when I really got rolling to scale it back to only 10! It was actually a really fun reminder of all the small things in life that can brighten your day. Who knows, maybe a few on my list will brighten yours! Cheers – Erin

November Fall Favorites

Now that November is in full swing, I wanted to share a few things I'm coveting due to the change in weather. Some of these items I've already purchased, and others I'm dying to own.

The JCrew boots have been my favorite purchase this fall. I wear them almost everyday to work. So much so that Eric has noticed and asked why wear these boots when I have plenty of other shoes I can wear. They're just so comfy and warm.

I've been cooking up a storm with my new white Le Creuset. From Moroccan chicken to lentil soup this is being used in my kitchen more than any other pot or pan. I love cooking at home and this has definitely helped make some amazing meals.

Lastly, I'll admit that I buy way too many cards, but these Thank You cards have been my very favorite this month. I love sending cards in the mail because it's so rare these days. I got these from Hello Lucky and one of the main reasons I was attracted to them was the bright orange envelope, who wouldn't want to open their mail box and see a bright envelope waiting for them?

I’m hoping to pick a few more things to add to my wardrobe or maybe add them to my Christmas wish list.

Clockwise from top left: Adam Dress, JCrew Black Pump, Abercrombie Sweater, JCrew Boots, James Perse Turtleneck, Hello Lucky Thank You Cards, Le Creuset White French Oven, Jamie Joseph Ring.
