a brand new month . . .

With a new month and week upon us - it feels like a fresh start. Spring cleaning has been accomplished, the laundry is folded and put away and the entire apartment smells like a garden thanks to the flowers Natalie gave me. What makes this week even more special is Eric finally gets from spring training.

A few things I'm loving this week - the new issue of Kinfolk (which is stunning and beautiful), blooms to mark the beginning of spring and a brand new bottle of Rodin hand lotion.

I hope all of you have a creative and productive week ahead.

a brand new week . . .

After an incredible Saturday photographing our apartment the rest of the weekend was all about enjoying some time at home due to the rainy weather. It was delightful.

A few things inspiring me this week - the first issue of Kinfolk was the perfect read before Thanksgiving, blooms for the house (anemones and paper whites), and lastly a trip to Heath Ceramics to pick up a few presents and some dish ware for the apartment.

I hope all of you have a lovely week ahead whether you're prepping for Thanksgiving, traveling to visit family or staying close to home. I can't wait for the holiday weekend - it's going to be so fun!

Cheers to a wonderful short week of work!

a brand new week . . .

I can't believe Monday is already here - this weekend went by entirely too fast! The past few days I was able to catch up on all the NYFW shows, all of which make me want to skip over winter and jump straight into spring. Quality time at home was ever so lovely - making brunch, tiding up the apartment and just being plan old lazy. What did all of you do this weekend?

Here are a few of my favorites from this week . . . I couldn't and still can't put down the September issue of British Vogue - it's filled with fall fashion that has me dreaming up outfits for the chilly months ahead. I'm in L-O-V-E with my the necklace that came in the mail from Joslyn - she and her girlies are uber talented. I've been wearing my favorite leopard Kate Spade flats from last fall almost every single day - they are my go-to shoe for every occasion. This moleskine notepad goes with me everywhere just in case inspiration comes while walking around the city or I'm sitting in a cafe. And lastly, I took a little trip to Birch to pick up some blooms for the house that make it smell oh-so-good.

Hope all of you have a lovely week ahead. I hope it goes by fast because we're off on a little vacation later this week!

I'm Loving . . .

For me there's nothing better than filling your house with fresh blooms - they instantly make a home look polished and cheery. Going into my favorite flower shops is like a little treat that is totally worth every penny.

The cool color palette of this home shot by Lonny is right up my alley. It's incredibly serene and peaceful.

I've been coveting this clutch for quite some time now - it's the perfect size and the color will go with any ensemble I throw together in the morning. It can even go from day to night. Don't worry, I've already added it to my wish list.

Are you constantly looking for summer salad inspiration? I certainly am. Eric is always asking me to mix it up a little. This salad by Sparkling Ink caught my eye due to its vibrate colors, but it looks delicious. I'll be heading to the farmers market to pick up the ingredients to make it - let's hope it gets Eric's stamp of approval.

Lately I've been completely in love with the idea of creating a little inspiration photo collage with things that have inspired me throughout the week - I'm toying with the idea of adding it as a weekly blog post. This photo in particular made me want to do it even more. Would this be something you would want to see? I think it could be fun!

What are you loving this week? Is there a ensemble that got you to be creative in your closet? A room that made you daydream? I'd love to know.

a new week . . .

There's really nothing like the morning after a long weekend - it's definitely a bittersweet moment, but for me they seem to be quite hectic. I'm always running around the office looking like my head is cut off. I'm constantly having to remind myself that everything will get done and I just need to sit back, put my head down to work and of course breathe.

Our weekend was packed with family in town, an amazing morning at the flea market, quality time with my mom (even though it was cut short) and keeping it casual in the sun. Slowing down to enjoy each day was something I haven't done in a long time and to top it all off I didn't open my computer once - something that rarely happens.

What did all of you do this weekend? I'm sure your days were filled with family, friends, BBQ’s and hopefully the sun was shining bright in your city!

Hope you all have a fabulous start to the week! I can see Friday already - haha.

TGIF!

Our days are currently being filled with lots sunshine and I couldn't be happier - it calls for spending more time outside (I'll find any excuse to be in the sun), finding a sun filled corner of my apartment to enjoy reading a good book or perhaps my new Vogue Living and a hike over in the headlands. I'm quite excited for the next few days off . I'll be putting on my comfy weekend wardrobe, stripes are a must and embrace every ray of sunshine (even if it's a little breezy).

Have a fabulous weekend everyone and I hope it's already off to a fantastic start!

xo,
Caitlin

garden party . . .

With weather slowly warming there comes a fresh spring air that instantly makes me crave fresh blooms - both in and outside the house. When I came across this botanical garden photo shoot, it made me want to throw a garden soiree. Now if only I had a backyard . . . maybe a deluxe picnic in the Presidio with girlfriends is in order!

happy may day!

Today brings back so many incredible memories of when I was a little girl. I used to bundle little bouquets of flowers together for our friends and neighbors - going door to door delivering them. Flowers have a special place in my heart. They bring so much joy, happiness and life into a room. So, be sure to pop on over to your local grocery store or flower shop from some lovely blooms. Have a wonderful May day lovelies!

easy breezy . . .

Everyone around the Bay Area is cherishing this glorious weather. The sunshine and light sea breeze is heavenly. In came crisp cotton sheets, light summer blankets and beautiful blooms. I'm soaking up all of the rays while I can, because let's face it, we'll be experiencing "June gloom" soon.

hello there spring!

This weekend we were graced with a horrible wind and a rain storm, but luckily spring officially arrived today! The sun was shining bright, which was a perfect way to enter into spring. I'm ready to fill the house with fresh flowers, pack away my winter coats, boots and tights for bare legs, t-shirts and cropped pants. What are you looking forward to this season? Picnics with friends in the park? Trips to warm weather destinations? Quick outings for some frozen yogurt? I can't wait to hear.

Happy Spring lovelies!

ps. If you live in SF please stop by the Undecorate by Dwell Studio book signing at Erica Tanov on Fillmore. It's going to be a blast and if you can come in person Victoria from sfgirlbybay will be hosting a tweet-up, click here for more information. Hope to see some of you there!

spring in my step . . .

Although it's been a week of adjusting to the new time change (wow, has it been hard to wake up in the AM) - I've got a little skip in my step. It's probably because it feels like spring is within arm’s reach. What are you looking forward to this spring? I can't wait to pack away my winter coats. I'm ready to wear skirts without tights and wear open toed shoes. Ahhhh, can you smell spring? It's coming!

it's friday + link love!

Friday is finally here - can you believe it? Can't wait for a weekend with no plans, which is rare for me. I've got a stack of glossies to get inspired by, books to finally open, and of course I need to celebrate the start of spring with a pop of color - I think some fresh blooms for the house are in order.

I hope all of you have a lovely weekend! Thank you so much for stopping by this week and I'm going to leave you with a few weekend links that have inspired me this week . . .

* let the sun shine . . .
* a mouthwatering snack . . .
* a sneak peek at the beautiful book Undecorate, which you can purchase here
* lastly, another HUGE thank you for all of the lovely comments on our wedding being featured . . . here and here!

Until Monday lovelies!

spring is near . . .

Hello March! With Spring right around the corner I'm itching to pull out my sandals, plan picnics in the park and enjoy the outdoors without a million layers on. I can taste Spring - hopefully it will be here soon.

What are you looking forward to this month?

wreath envy . . .

When I came across this image from the lovely Kate - my jaw dropped, I had heart palpitations and I would love one to call my own. The combination of autumn blackberries, beautiful feathers and greens is dream-worthy and incredibly unusual. I'm in love with it, what about you?

happy friday + MAY DAY!

May Day has been one of my favorite days of the year since I could walk. When I was little I used to put together bouquets of flowers for neighbors. Making each one perfect . . . those memories are so vivid. Now that I'm older I try to fill my apartment with lilacs, peonies and other flowers that jumps out at me. So, enjoy your weekend lovelies, and if you get a chance be sure to get a bouquet of flowers to celebrate May Day with me.

xo, Caitlin

p.s. Next week I'll post a few of our wedding photos. We've only received a handful so far, but we should be getting all of them in two weeks. Thanks for the continued support. I know all of you have been wanting to see them :)

Picture Perfect Party

I've been re-reading this post on 100 Layer Cake from a few weeks ago because I think it would be such a fun Wedding Shower or low-key Bachelorette Party to throw for a good friend. Anything that has to do with making my own bouquet of flowers is at the top of my list.
I am positively swooning over every detail…so perfect! Love the workstations with scissors-and-ribbon place settings.

Sarah from Blossom and Branch taught everyone how to put together a picture perfect bouquet. I love how each bouquet is colorful, but reflects each persons individual style.

Sarah offers this service for any group interested in learning simple floral design principles and techniques. The best part, she will come to you! To hire Sarah for your next soiree or put your name on the mailing list for her next public floral class, email her sarah@blossomandbranch.com.

Happy {Spring Blossoms} Weekend!

Spring has sprung here in San Francisco. The cherry blossoms are blooming, berries are starting to appear at the grocery store and days are slowly getting warmer.

Hopefully this weekend I can take advantage of my unplanned days with a trip to the farmers market, cooking some new recipes, enjoying long walks around the city and of course sleeping in on Sunday morning.

I hope all of you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by this week.

10 Things That Make Me Happy: CreateGirl

Today I'm excited to have Julie from CreateGirl guest post about what makes her happy. When I first started my blog Julie was, and still is, one of the most supportive and positive bloggers in the blogosphere. Every week I writes a comment that puts a smile on my face.

Julie not only has CreateGirl, but she also has her own interior design business called Jace Interiors. She's been in the industry for over eleven years. When she started Jace Interiors, the motto was“Your Home, Your Style, My Assistance.” She kept in mind that it's a very personal experience to let a designer into your home and work in your personal space.

Thank you so much Julie for guesting here on Sacramento Street today. Hope all of you enjoy this post as much as I do.

*******************************************************

Hi All! Thanks Caitlin it was so sweet of you to ask me to participate in the "10 Things That Make Me Happy" Series! Who knew it would be so challenging to scale back my list to only 10 pieces?! In both my blog CreateGirl and my design company Jace Interiors I tend to focus more on the accents which truly create the extra wow to any room! With my picks below, I think you will see that same thought process throughout.
I hope you enjoy my list!

10 things that make me happy!!

Fresh Flowers - like these from the Frolic Blog. Fresh cut flowers are something my mom always had around the house and it is a special touch I have taken from her, they always make me happy!!

Oversized Cocktail Rings - Yes, I am an Italian girl who is always expressing herself with her hands, so to have a stand out ring makes all those hand gesture a tad more entertaining! I have a big collection of rings and tend not to spend a lot on them so Forever 21 and Banana Republic fit the bill. Banana Republic Ring $17.99

Spring - all of it is what I am loving right now, well really my spring inspiration board which includes this outfit from Trina Turk. The turquoise/coral combo just feels so fresh!

Inspirational Quotes - Since I was a teenager I have collected quotes, I have them all over the house and often find them tucked into a book or on a sticky in my bag! This is one of my all time favorites! Etsy $27.00

Classic Fabrics - Imperial Trellis II from Schumacher in Navy is timeless and I hope to use it for BR panels this spring!

Coats - make me incredibly happy since I am one chilly girl and the Boston Winter can be so unfriendly! Soia & Kyo literally have the warmest wool coats and their exaggerated features make them unique. For me the winter is all about multiple interesting coats those that might hide my tutleneck and jeans! Look for them in January when they go on sale!

Trim - Any time I create a custom pillow for someone I insist on trim. It will create the wow to any fabric and add that special touch it needs! Rope Welt, Loop Trim, Tassel Fringe, Beaded Fringe...I love it all!! Anything from Schumacher is a little slice of heaven.

Metal Beds - makes me happy as it works easily with any type of wood furniture! The Mendocino Bed from Pottery Barn is a piece that I can see myself handing down to my children someday. I love the simple lines and the way the headboard and footboard hug the bed with its slight curve! Pottery Barn: Queen $1,099.00

Dinner Parties and Linens - make me ridiculously happy if it is on sale even better! Nothing makes me more excited than having my friends and family at one table even if it is just for take out...linens are always a must! I just purchased this Williams Sonoma Foulard Table Cloth for $9.99 at the outlet store. FABULOUS! (image from Cooking in Stilettos)
