daily inspiration: camille styles

Good morning y’all! Camille Styles here, with some pretty little things that are inspiring me right now. I was so excited when Caitlin asked me to pop in this week, since her brand new week series is my very favorite on Sacramento Street. There’s something so fun about seeing the items that our fave tastemakers are loving...and I always add at least one of them to my own shopping list! So what can I not get enough of right now?

My lavender Compagnie de Provence hand soap turns the act of washing hands into a total luxury.

Yarn-died organic napkins from West Elm are the epitome of utilitarian chic.

My new alphabet stamp collection has got me stamping everything in site: place cards, holiday gifts... you name it, I’ve stamped it.

Japanese washi tape adds festive polka dots to otherwise-mundane objects.

In She Walks in Beauty, Caroline Kennedy shares the poetry that’s inspired her at key moments throughout her life.

This Kendra Scott necklace adds a luxe-tribal note to cozy winter ensembles.

Thanks for having me Caitlin, and hope you all have a wonderful week! xo

a brand new week . . .

What a delightful weekend! With no agenda going into the weekend it ended up being extraordinary. There was a trip to the flea market with girlfriends - where I found an amazing light fixture and some treasures for Erin as well, lots of coffee dates with friends, a little shopping, and to top it off I went to a friends trunk show for her fall collection. Although I did a lot, it didn't feel hectic at all. And I'm entering a new work week rejuvenated to get my laundry list of to-do's crossed off.

A few treasures that inspired me this week were Nomad by Sibella Court - it's utterly divine (and courtesy of Chronicle Books), hydrangeas that are the most beautiful color, new John Robshaw pillow cases that I've been anxiously waiting for (ours are so faded that the brown is now taupe), a necklace that I could not stop wearing, and lastly my new Astier addition - a candle that smells so good I can't stop burning it. If you're on the hunt for a new candle I highly recommend the Mantes La Jolie.

What did all of you do this weekend? I hope you enjoyed the extra hour of sleep. I certainly did!

Cheers to a new fulfilling week!

a brand new week . . .

This weekend was utterly delightful - spending quality time at home getting items crossed off my to-do list, an impromptu tea time with a girlfriend, and then ending the weekend with a dinner at Kokkari with Erin and our husbands (my mouth is still watering from the delicious food).

As usual, here are some beautiful things that are inspiring me this week; a Chagall print that I got four years ago in Paris, a new mercury decanter for our bar, an antler that I got last year at the flea market, my globe calendar from Prize in Ashland and lastly this amazing tape from Japan that I purchased at Alder & Co in Portland (makes wrapping presents even more fun).

After surviving my first few days of work I'm ready for a full week of productivity. With deadlines looming and tons of projects in the works I'm going to hit the week running until I board my flight Friday to Dallas.

Cheers to a wonderful week ahead!

First and foremost, thank you so much for the overwhelming support about the new job. Your sweet words here are over on twitter filled my heart with so much joy.

A few things that got me inspired this week were - a vintage necklace that I rediscovered, a birch box that smells like cinnamon is getting me excited for fall festivities to begin, my new favorite button-up that I got at the
Chloe Rose anniversary party, putting away my summer fragrance was a bittersweet moment, and lastly, Dwellings is one of my favorite decor books - it is a must have for every household.

Hope all of you have a lovely first fall weekend - you can definitely sense a change in season here in San Francisco. Cheers to a new week!

I heart Pinterest . . .

I have a little bit of an obsession - Pinterest. I'm totally hooked and it's getting to the point where I can't stop pinning. It's seriously the best tool for a bloggers and designers. For those of you not acquainted with Pinterest - it's a site that lets you "pin" any image online into a virtual inspiration board that you create within your profile. Now can you see why I'm incredibly addicted.

So, if you haven't started pinning you need to start, and for those of you equally obsessed as I am, we should follow each other!

Happy pinning everyone!

a brand new week . . .

Happy Monday lovelies - popping in late because it was a hectic start to the week! This weekend was filled with all sorts of inspiration. From doing a little fall shopping, to rising early for the flea market, to doing some much needed cleaning of drawers and filing cabinets - I am refreshingly prepared for the week ahead.

A little about what has got me inspired for this week. Beautiful, bright, green succulents, a butterfly that I found while cleaning, the stunning platter I got last week at Terrain, my business card holder that carries cards I've been sifting through from last week and my favorite flea market find - a bracelet that had my heart go a flutter.

Hope all of you have a lovely week ahead. I have a feeling it's going to be a good one for all of us!

home sweet home . . .

After a whirlwind time hitting the streets of New York and enjoying a lovely day of summer camp at Terrain right outside Philadelphia, I’m excited to be making the journey back home to San Francisco.

This past week has inspired me beyond words – I think that’s what traveling does to people. From exploring New York in the blazing heat with my favorite girls (Erin,Camille, and Lisa), to spending a day with talented bloggers, to making my first terrarium – the entire trip was magnificent and truly inspiring.

Here are a few of my favorites from this trip – a necklace I picked up at the Brooklyn Flea Market in Williamsburg by World Trades Fair, the Standard hotel that was too cool for school, hanging out with my NYC contributor Lauren from Material Lust, delicious chocolate cover honeycomb (yes, it heavenly) and lastly Terrain. Words cannot describe how inspiring it was. Don’t worry, a whole post is coming up tomorrow with details about my time there.

Hope all of you have had a wonderful week thus far.

a new week . . .

Happy Monday everyone! After a weekend filled with lying around reading, catching up on laundry, enjoying being at home and then taking a ferry ride over to Marin to spend the day with a friend - I'm ready to take on this busy week. And that’s because at the end of it I'll be heading to New York and Philly.

These are a few things that carried me through the past week: My new favorite magazine Inside Out (if you haven't picked up a copy it’s filled with endless inspiration that will have you re-arranging your home), little bamboo pins from New Mexico have me brainstorming a fun project, lemon to put in my water (which is my summer staple drink to keep me hydrated), I'm still in love with my dried Lotus pods that fill an Astier bowl, Polaroids that bring back so many amazing memories and then this necklace has been making an appearance in my wardrobe quite a bit.

Hope all of you have an amazing week ahead of you!

a brand new week . . .

Happy Monday! I've been making it a weekend ritual to enjoy time away from work - catching up with friends, taking day trips to warmer weather and actually taking the time to read. That's exactly what happened this weekend - a day trip up to Napa to visit friends that just had a baby last week (he is adorable), spending mornings finishing a book, and spending a evening with are best friends who just got engaged. In my eyes it was perfection and just what I needed to restore energy for a busy work week.

To top it all off, these are the things that got me incredibly inspired this past week: the brand new Vogue Living Australia that never disappoints, gorgeous peonies that popped into my local grocery store, a postcard from the wonderful Will and Toby, my new orange Clare Vivier clutch that I can't stop using (it's beautiful!!) and then my necklace I got while I was in New Mexico in March. It's amazing to see the things in my life that inspire me - this new Monday post is so much fun!

PS. Be sure to check out my new Houzz post on outdoor entertaining inspiration!

a new week + a winner!

Good morning everyone, it's a new week and after a weekend spent slowing down and unwinding, I'm ready to take on the week. We headed up to Portland on a last minute trip - spent mornings out on the porch enjoying homemade breakfast with the scent of Jasmine in the air, went to Alder & Co (my favorite new Portland store) and spent entirely too much money. We also went to the local tobacco shop to pick up some new glossies and ended the day with a meal at Caffe
that was out of this world - let's just say it was the weekend that I totally needed to get recharged.

As I mentioned last week, I'm going to start giving you a peek at the items that have inspired me over the last week: the ever so stunning House Beautiful which I can't seem to put down, a mint Julip cup I picked up at the flea market, my new favorite bracelet I can't seem to stop wearing, Sibella Court's NYC guide and bright new lip gloss that I love.

Also, I've been overjoyed with all of your comments about our home being featured on Design*Sponge - your support means the world to me. Tomorrow I'll begin posting details about each part of the apartment with more detailed photos, sources, a floor plan and more. Many of you are emailing and commenting, so just watch out for the posts!

And now for the WINNER of the
West Elm Parsons Tower giveaway is . . . Tobe of Beacause It's Awesome! A huge congratulations to you - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I'll be contacting
you soon about details.

Have a wonderful week lovelies!
Hope it is a great one!

I'm Loving . . .

For me there's nothing better than filling your house with fresh blooms - they instantly make a home look polished and cheery. Going into my favorite flower shops is like a little treat that is totally worth every penny.

The cool color palette of this home shot by Lonny is right up my alley. It's incredibly serene and peaceful.

I've been coveting this clutch for quite some time now - it's the perfect size and the color will go with any ensemble I throw together in the morning. It can even go from day to night. Don't worry, I've already added it to my wish list.

Are you constantly looking for summer salad inspiration? I certainly am. Eric is always asking me to mix it up a little. This salad by Sparkling Ink caught my eye due to its vibrate colors, but it looks delicious. I'll be heading to the farmers market to pick up the ingredients to make it - let's hope it gets Eric's stamp of approval.

Lately I've been completely in love with the idea of creating a little inspiration photo collage with things that have inspired me throughout the week - I'm toying with the idea of adding it as a weekly blog post. This photo in particular made me want to do it even more. Would this be something you would want to see? I think it could be fun!

What are you loving this week? Is there a ensemble that got you to be creative in your closet? A room that made you daydream? I'd love to know.

a hint of inspiration . . .

After a weekend filled with a jaunt over to Marin for a little shopping date with a girlfriend and spent some much needed quality time at home before a busy week ahead. This week I'm inspired by layered bracelets and khaki trenches; fresh cut flowers and stacks of old magazines; inspiration boards place in beautiful workspaces. What's inspiring you this monday morning?

Have a lovely week everyone - hope it's off to a fantastic start!

inspiration: another alternative

Can you tell I'm a bit obsessed with getting an inspiration board up in my apartment? The idea of placing an old frame on a wall with Polaroid’s is an unique idea I never thought of doing - but I'm itching to try it after seeing this image. I currently have a bowl of Polaroid’son my coffee table - it's something fun for people to look through when they come to visit. I find that everyone that stops by immediately sits down to pour through the photos.

On my next trip to the flea market I'm going to search for the perfect frame.

By the way, isn't the girl in this photo très chic? Love the glasses, hair and outfit - ok, I love the entire look!

inspiration: the perfect board

Growing up I had a HUGE bulletin board in my bedroom that I filled with photos, torn out pages of magazines and treasures I found at flea markets - basically anything that made my heart beat faster. I'm longing for a large inspiration board again . . . I'll have to get this one from Pottery Barn this new year.

lazy days + refreshing sunlight

I have found myself re-living the past two weeks I spent reading books and taking naps. Being home makes me long for those days, but it's nice to be home. Spring brings in bursts of light into our apartment, which makes me crave bright crisp whites. With white on my mind, I've decided that after living in my apartment for four years, it's FINALLY time to paint the walls. Goodbye light yellow (it was freshly painted when I moved in) and hello white walls. In the next few weeks, I'll be searching far and wide for the perfect white paint. I'd love any suggestions you have that would go well with linen and browns. So, what's your favorite white paint? I'm so excited for my new project!

Inspiration Board: First Client

Today I'm excited to share my very first client's inspiration board. I've put a lot together for myself over the years and each one varies with what I'm trying to achieve. They encompass my initial vision and thoughts about the space. It's a way for me to gather everything to start my design project.

When creating this board I thought about a few words my client had mentioned she wanted out of her apartment: chic, warm and glamorous. I had only one request from her; I had to decorate with the color purple.

After numerous hours of brainstorming about what to add into her inspiration board, I chose the color palate of purple, greys and ivory that will work with her existing bed and couch.

A few style notes:
* Recover her headboard in a patterned fabric (above) will add an extra pop against her already white walls.
* Adding texture that will bring in warmth to the room with faux fur pillows and blankets.
* Bring in pillows that draw in the accent colors.
* John Robshaw sheets are a must in every household. These go perfectly with this color palette.
* Add in furniture with additional storage that will declutter the apartment and keep it more organized.
* A sleek, chic desk with clean, straight lines is exactly what she wants for her workspace.
* Find unique pieces that will bring in a touch of glam.

The progress of this project is moving along great. I've already purchased a few things; a dining room table, coffee table, headboard fabric and throw pillows. I'm excited to go to Alameda the first weekend of February, I know I'll be able to find a lot more treasures for her apartment.

Hope all of you enjoyed a little sneak peek at this project. Can't wait to continue to share my progress on it. Keep an eye out for the before pictures of the apartment that will be posted soon.
