a brand new week . . .

What a spectacular weekend - it was filled with gorgeous warm weather, quality time catching up with girlfriends, a little Halloween fun and a lazy Sunday that I needed in a huge way. All in all I wish every weekend could be just like it.

A few things that inspired me this week . . . peonies from the flower market, a postcard from my dear friend Amy, my new go-to necklace by Kora, a weekend find at Cris consignment - my new Dries heels (can't wait to wear these beauties) and lastly, a Muse magazine that is filled with tons of warm weather fashion inspiration. What's been inspiring you lately?

Cheers to a productive week ahead for all of us! Can you believe tomorrow is November?

I'm Loving . . .

Perfecting a messy bun seems more challenging than wearing my hair down. Do any of you feel the same way? This one in particular is at the perfect height and is slightly messy, but not too messy that it looks like you just rolled out of bed. I'll be attempting it this weekend.

A delicious treat that's perfect for a movie night at home. It's the grownup version of milk and cookies!

Who doesn't need a little metallic on their desk? This is going on my Christmas wish list.

It's been another whirlwind week at work and after tomorrow's photo shoot I'll be ready to unwind at home being lazy and cozying up in bed with my stack of magazines I've been neglecting. Wish we could skip Friday and go straight into the weekend!

it's all in the case + giveaway . . .

I've been on the hunt for the perfect iPad case for some time now - to be honest it's almost been a year. First we bought the standard black one that Apple sells, but it was way too boring in my opinion. Then I ditched the regular iPad case and stored it in one of my Clare Vivier clutches, but Eric wasn't a huge fan of that. So the search for the perfect one continued for months and months. Then one day I had a little time to do some research and went to one of my favorite sites Graphic Image - I have their address book, business card holder, and agenda (yes, I'm obsessed). As I poked around I saw that they were now carrying iPad cases!

Tada, this is the case that I picked and it came just in time for our Dallas trip this past weekend. It goes with all of my other Graphic Image products. It's like the textbook cover you always wanted in high school.

I know that there are a lot of you out there that have probably been on the same hunt. Well, it's all ending today readers because today I'm giving away a personalized iPad case!

Here's how to enter:

- Pop over to Graphic Image to let me know which color is your favorite.

- Follow Graphic Image on twitter.

- For an extra entry follow Graphic Image on Facebook.

A winner will be selected next Monday at 3pm PST.

In the meantime, Graphic Image had kindly offered a discount for Sacramento Street readers. Upon checkout enter STREET to receive 20% off the entire store! This discount will be available for a month (hello, get some early Christmas shopping done!).

Good luck everyone!

to bare or not to bare . . .

We're currently in that time of year where you don't know if you can go outside with bare legs or if tights are needed. Yesterday, I took a leap of faith with the weather and went sans tights. Well, let me tell you, I had shivers all day long - the blue sky and sunshine are such a tease this time of year.

This outfit is the perfect look that could go bare legged with or cover with a sleek pair of tights and look equally as chic. Don't you think?

Are you having the same problem? I hope I'm not alone . . .

a brand new week + a winner . . .

Happy Monday! After a fabulous trip to Dallas this weekend it's nice to be back home and settled back into the daily routine. Some highlights from this weekend were the beautiful Belmont Hotel where we stayed, the incredible food we had at Bolsa and Oddfellows, shopping at some of Joslyn's secret spots around town and going to the Dallas Museum of Art. The best part though was spending some quality time with Joslyn and her family. After going over to her house on Friday night I was incredibly inspired by her home that I wanted to copy everything she's done. I'm in awe!

Now for the winner of the Estée Lauder giveaway . . . . CONGRATS Viviana!

Don't worry readers - I've got another amazing giveaway going live on Wednesday! Believe me, you won't want to miss this one.

Have a lovely week!

If you have any restaurant and shopping recommendations please let me know!

lip service verdict + a giveaway!

As you know I've been trying out different Estée Lauder color glosses the entire week - it was challenging, but good to step out of my comfort zone. Well readers, the verdict is in on my favorites . . .

The three above I loved, but these glosses went on quite sheer and had a hint of sparkle. They would be my basic go-to's for a light shimmer.

These next two I didn't love on me - not sure if it was the outfit I paired them with or if they just didn't suit my skin tone. I wanted to like them on me, but they just didn't strike my fancy.

Let's talk about my winning colors! The Cranberry Shine was completely out of the ordinary for me, but it totally grew on me as the day wore on. I began to realize that a pop of color on the lips adds a little pizzaz to the day. The Nude Rose was delightful - perfect for an everyday gloss for the office or weekend. I kept finding myself wanting to re-apply every few hours. And lastly Rose Emotion, all I have to say is "hello lovely!" - it's utterly divine! A little hint of pink can do no wrong in my book and I'm now obsessed with this gloss. I've told all of my coworkers about it.

Now get down to this lovely giveaway that Estée Lauder has partnered with me on. Estée Lauder is offering a bundle of lip glosses to a lucky Sacramento Street reader!! Here's how to enter:

1. Be sure to follow both @caitlinflemming and @EstéeLauder on twitter.
2. Then comment below on which of the eight colors above you would love to start wearing.

A winner will be selected and announced on Monday!

I know that the winner will busting out some luscious lips this coming holiday season. Good luck everyone!

I'm Loving . . .

The details in a room is what makes my heart sing - the neutral palate and floor to ceiling bookcases do exactly that when I look at this room.

Need. Want. Must have this coming spring! Dries von Noten always seems to steal my heart every single season. I'll be saving my pennies for these beauties.

The cool San Francisco breeze is making me think long and hard about the next few months. This coat seems like the best go-to last layer that will keep you warm on your way to work.

This cheese platter is calling my name. The assortment of cheese, nuts, crackers and honey is absolutely perfection.

Lastly, Erica Tanov is having a fabulous trunk show tonight with the L.A.-based jewelry line, Kora. I've seen a few pieces in person and can't wait to see this darling duo's entire collection. It's going to be a lively shindig, so be sure to pop in between 4 - 9pm if you're in the Pacific Heights neighborhood. Hope to see you there!

lip service . . .

This week I'm adding a little beauty into the mix. When Estée Lauder came to me asking if I'd test out a rainbow of lip glosses I immediately jumped at the opportunity - who can resist a little beauty glamour.

I'm going to be honest with all of you - I'm the girl that wears a pale pink or nude lip. I never go outside my boundaries when it comes to lips. So, it's time to step outside my box and challenge myself.

On Friday, I'll be showing you the colors I've worn (from above) this week and telling you what I thought. And of course we'll be adding something extra to this post - a giveaway! Who doesn't need a few more glosses for their handbag?

Be sure to pop back in on Friday!

bathroom: which one do you adore?

I always find myself admiring beautiful bathrooms - probably because it's something that I dream about often. From the tile, to the fixtures, to the colors you can pick out, I'm always in awe at how people decide to design their bathroom.

If you could pick one of these beautiful bathrooms, which one would you pick for your home?

a brand new week . . .

This weekend was utterly delightful - spending quality time at home getting items crossed off my to-do list, an impromptu tea time with a girlfriend, and then ending the weekend with a dinner at Kokkari with Erin and our husbands (my mouth is still watering from the delicious food).

As usual, here are some beautiful things that are inspiring me this week; a Chagall print that I got four years ago in Paris, a new mercury decanter for our bar, an antler that I got last year at the flea market, my globe calendar from Prize in Ashland and lastly this amazing tape from Japan that I purchased at Alder & Co in Portland (makes wrapping presents even more fun).

After surviving my first few days of work I'm ready for a full week of productivity. With deadlines looming and tons of projects in the works I'm going to hit the week running until I board my flight Friday to Dallas.

Cheers to a wonderful week ahead!

happy weekend!

Oh, how time flies! I cannot believe it's mid-October already. This week has been amazing - finally being in a field that has my creative mind flowing 24/7 is utterly divine. I'm loving the office and all of my co-workers.

Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend! I'm going to savor this 80 degree weather and get some much needed rest before a crazy work week starts up again.

Cheer my dears!

I'm Loving . . .

This look is stunning. The camel cape with the classic button-up and black shorts is perfection. Fall is here and I think this ensemble would look beautiful with skinny black pants since bare legs would be a bit chillier this time of year. I'll definitely be testing out this look as the temps grow cooler.

The casual feel of this room has me swooning. There isn't anything over the top about it, which is what I love. It's simple, clean and ready to jump into at the end of a long day.

All I can say is YUM! Pumpkin anything is always delicious, so this recipe is going to the top of my husbands baking list because my mouth is already watering.

Don't you wish you could plan out every outfit this way? I certainly do when I wake up in the morning and can't decide what to wear. This outfit in particular has me so excited for fall layering!

If any of you have anything in particular that's inspiring you this week - whether it's a recipe, a room, a cute notebook you just picked up, or an outfit, I'd love to know!

on the menu: crusted butternut squash

With the grocery stores filling up with delicious fall produce I've been sifting through recipes books and blogs to find a few go-to's for dinners. This butternut squash recipe from Sprouted Kitchen is exactly what I was on the hunt for - I can't wait to make this all winter long!

1 Butternut Squash (about 2 lbs.)
2 tsp. Olive Oil
1/2 tsp. Fresh Ground Nutmeg
1/3 Cup Fresh Breadcrumbs / Panko
1/2 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 Minced Garlic Clove
1 Tbsp. Finely Chopped Parsley
1/4 Cup Fresh Thyme Leaves
Salt and Pepper

Oven to 400

Peel the squash (vegetable peeler works great). Slice it in half length wise and discard the seeds. Cut into 1/4” slices.

On a parchment lined baking tray, pile the squash, drizzle the olive oil and the nutmeg and toss everything to coat evenly. All should have a thin coat of oil, amount may vary based on size of the squash. Spread them out in a single layer on the baking tray.

You may need to use two, too much overlap won’t yield a crunchy crust.

In a food processor (or magic bullet) pulse together the breadcrumbs, parmesan, garlic, both herbs, a few pinches of salt and a lot of fresh black pepper.

Sprinkle the topping on the squash. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the tops are browned and the squash is cooked.

To read the rest of the recipe details be sure to pop over to Sprouted Kitchen.

Bon appetite everyone!

fireplace: which one do you adore?

With fall weather in full swing all I can think about is how I will be staying warm throughout the cool months ahead. A fireplace is the perfect solution and also a beautiful accent in any home. Of course, there are so many different styles to choose from - traditional to modern. So I'd like to know, which one would you like in your home? Seems like a simple question, but I'm always torn between number four and six.

a brand new week . . .

If only vacations didn't have to go by in a blink of an eye. Spending five days in Portland was divine - eating at new restaurants, doing a little shopping, spending quality time at home and meeting up with old friends is exactly what I needed to recharge.

A few things that were inspiring me this week come from my days spent in Portland - a beautiful new magazine I discovered called Grazia Casa, a few items from around my mom's house that I should have snuck home in my suitcase and of course an eiffel tower because both my mom and I were reminiscing about the trip we took a couple years ago (we're now plotting a new european adventure).

Today will be filled with a trip to the flower market, an impromptu meet-up at a friends new house she just moved into (it's gorgeous), and of course checking off items on my to-do list. I'm ready for the exciting week ahead.

Hope all of you have a wonderful week ahead. The leaves are beginning to turn here in San Francisco and I'm absolutely loving every minute of this fall weather. It's my favorite time of year!

it's friday + link love . . .

The past few days I've been spending quality time at home with family and friends. I'm definitely getting a taste of fall weather here in Portland - cooler temperatures, leafs are changing colors and rain is trickling down. But the best part, I already feel completely recharged to start my new job. I can't wait for Tuesday to roll around, but until then I'll be lounging at home, making delicious dinners with my mom and sipping mojitos with my dear friend Amy.

If you've got some time to poke around this weekend be sure to check out these fabulous reads:

* A San Francisco store I have yet to discover . . .

* I'm picking up the ingredients to make this salad right when I get home . . .

* I've got four of these quilts around my apartment and love them . . .

* The details of this runway show are perfection . . .

* Apple season is in full swing and these photos by the lovely Daniella are beautiful . . .

Lastly, a huge thank you goes out to all of my October sponsors. For amazing handbags and clothing be sure to check out La Boutique (my favorite SF shop), Lo & Sons, and Pretty Mommy (she carries Clare Vivier clutches). Looking to add a few pieces to your home? Comfort & Samuel, ShopTen 25, and Ruby Lane are my go-to first stops. And if you’re starting to think about holiday cards or gifts, Pinhole Press and Storkie are the perfect places to get you thinking about the festivities that await us in a few short months.

Hope all of you enjoy this fall-like weather - I'm embracing it with open arms!

I'm Loving . . .

My inspiration for work wear and weekend wear as the days get chillier. I have a feeling layering is going to be a must!

Words to live by when working in a creative industry.

Getting cozy in a big over-sized sweater with a huge cup of tea or hot cocoa is something I'll be doing regularly as the weather gets cooler.

The collected look is by far my favorite - when you can look at a room and can tell that they've been collecting items through travel or flea markets it makes a room so much more personal. You know that this weathered leather chair has so many stories to tell about who's sat it in over the years. Oh, and let's not forget about the pop of mustard - it's heavenly!
