bedroom inspiration . .

Yesterday in my "four favorites" post I featured the Ornate bed - well I can't stop thinking about it and Christiane from Dwell Studio asked how I would decorate it if I owned it. I was totally up for taking a little bit of time to get creative and put together an inspiration board.

As you all know, I had to stick to my neutral colors, but added in fun textures to spice it up. The mix of a Madeline Weinrib rug, Bungalow 5 lamp, CB2 dressers and West Elm and Dwell Studio pillows make for a cozy sanctuary to cuddle in every night.

Now that I've created this board I wish the bed could magically appear at my doorstep.

bed: which one do you adore?

Last night my mom and I were sitting in her new condo discussing what style of bed she should purchase for the guest bedroom - from traditional to antique to modern . . . the possibilities are endless. So after searching for the perfect style I thought it might be fun to have all of you weigh in on your favorite style. Which do you adore the most?

I'm Loving . . .

This look is stunning. The camel cape with the classic button-up and black shorts is perfection. Fall is here and I think this ensemble would look beautiful with skinny black pants since bare legs would be a bit chillier this time of year. I'll definitely be testing out this look as the temps grow cooler.

The casual feel of this room has me swooning. There isn't anything over the top about it, which is what I love. It's simple, clean and ready to jump into at the end of a long day.

All I can say is YUM! Pumpkin anything is always delicious, so this recipe is going to the top of my husbands baking list because my mouth is already watering.

Don't you wish you could plan out every outfit this way? I certainly do when I wake up in the morning and can't decide what to wear. This outfit in particular has me so excited for fall layering!

If any of you have anything in particular that's inspiring you this week - whether it's a recipe, a room, a cute notebook you just picked up, or an outfit, I'd love to know!

bedroom: which one do you adore?

When you live a studio you long for a bedroom - let me tell you . . . I dream about it all the time. I stockpile beautiful bedroom images for when the day comes that we finally move. As I was browsing through my bedroom file for a client, I thought "I wonder which bedroom my readers would love?" Well, here are just a handful. My current favorite is number five but I'd change the light fixture and add a jute rug to the mix. Although my favorite has already changed since I started writing the post. Which one do you love?

it's friday!

Is it just me or as time passes do the weeks get shorter and shorter? I'm overjoyed that it's the weekend. Ihave a girls night planned, date night with Eric (we're going to see The Fighter) and I'll be packing for the much anticipated Altitude Design Summit in Salt Lake City, Utah next week. You've probably been hearing a lot of bloggers talking about it on their blogs and on twitter. Putting together outfits is daunting - lifestyle bloggers all in one place, talk about amazing style overload.

Wish I had Monday off, but alas, my company doesn't give us MLK off. I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday weekend!

xoxo,

fireside

I've been longing for a fireplace for ages - it's a rare thing to have in a San Francisco apartment but it would be a nice little perk. Especially having one in a bedroom. Although, I don't think I would leave my bed if that was the case!

a stunning bedroom

I can't even count how many times I have saved this image to my desktop - too many. But on this dark gloomy day all I want to do is climb right in and have a lazy day with a stack of unread magazines and a huge cup of hot cocoa (with marshmallows of course). It also doesn't hurt that this room is gorgeous - the walls are amazing, the bed is dream-worthy and the doors opening to the outside are something I want in my next home.

A Pop of Color: Light + Neutrals

Warm weather is spreading across the country, putting smiles on everyone's face. There is nothing like natural light mixed with soft textures.

To me, there is nothing more perfect than this cozy bedroom.

Thompson Sisters: Victoria

When I'm looking for a little inspiration I'm usually attracted to things I don't normally go for. Weird right? When I was thumbing (clicking, I like to think that it's printed magazine) through Lonny's third issue, I was drawn to the Thompson sister's apartments. They are world's apart in terms of design, yet Antonia and Victoria live in the same building.

Victoria's inspiration comes from the 50s and 60s. Her apartment is filled with bright patterns, Lucite, and lots of texture. If feels as though you should be in Palm Beach, not New York.

What I'm drawn to the most is the color palette. The turquoise and chartreuse are refreshing.

One thing that Lonny Magazine does a fabulous job at is featuring bars. Since they started I've been wanting one in my apartment. Once I move into a bigger apartment I hope to have a bar just like the one above. My favorite part is the apple, it's perfectly placed.

I've been inspired by the way people display their jewelry. I think putting the jewels you wear the most on a tray is the perfect way to have them on a dresser. That way you can quickly put the last touches of your outfit on in the morning.

Ok, I'm a HUGE tray lover. Probably because when you put items on trays it makes a room feel more organized. More importantly, I've been trying to find a heart-shaped bowl (like the one above). Does anyone know where it's from?

What an amazing desk. Other than the fact that everything is perfectly placed, the desk itself is great. I think anyone would love a desk that has a place to store magazines. I know I do.

Some of Victoria's favorite places: Apartment 48, Global Table, and Haus Interior in New York. Cashmere Buffalo and C. Bell in West Palm Beach.

Later today, I'll be posting on Antonia's apartment.

A Beautiful Luxury: Les Indiennes

When I'm looking for a little inspiration one of first places I go to is the Les Indiennes lookbook. Five years ago I started working at Erica Tanov and I fell in love with the Les Indiennes bedding we carried.

Mary Mulcahy creates a simple, fresh and rustic look that embodies what is authentic to India, but as she says "meets the Western eye."

Specializing in 100 percent natural cotton bedding that is hand blocked using ancient traditions and natural vegetables dyes. When you look at each piece they create it looks like a work of art. Such a luxury!

I hope these images bring you as much inspiration as they bring me.

Perfection: Malene Birger's Home

There aren't many words to describe this Cophenhagen home, except for the fact that it's utter perfection. Danish fashion designer Malene Birger's home is filled with treasures that any women would dream of having.

The photos speak for themselves; the coats, shoes, earrings and decor are perfectly placed. Skona hem did a phenomenal job photographing this inspiring home.

Happy {R & R} Weekend!

After a long week of work, wedding planning, wedding drama and redecorating our apartment with a new bed, I'm exhausted. I am so glad I have a new bed to collapse on this weekend.

I want to apologize for the late afternoon posts this week. It's been rough dealing with two of my bridesmaids. Let's just say I highly recommend that as a bride you're there when your bridesmaids take their measurements. Don't let them turn in what the "hope" they'll be or they may be wearing their dresses with safety pins up and down the side like a Scottish Kilt! But when your bridesmaids live in another country, you'd think you would be able to trust them. Unfortunately, mine didn't give me their REAL measurements. I'll keep you posted about what happens, but for now I just have to laugh about the whole situation and enjoy every minute of being engaged.

But no more drama this weekend. My weekend is going to be all about resting, relaxing and working on redecorating my first clients apartment. I'll be sharing the inspiration board I created for her apartment next week.

Mattress, Welcome to Our Home

This morning Eric and I said goodbye to our full size mattress. Tonight our new queen mattress will arrive and both of us are waiting with bated breath (at least our backs are).

I'm excited to put new sheets on the bed, iron the bed skirt and get it all set up. Luckily, our headboard is on a truck headed our way. Next week the apartment will look even better!

Day Dreaming: A New Bed

When I want to redecorate a little something in my apartment I usually get a new pillow, candle or pillowcase. Lately, I’ve had a hankering to do something bigger. Since we’re not moving anytime soon something’s got to give, right?

First of all, I want to buy a queen mattress. I’m tired of a full size bed. We really do need that extra four or five inches that the queen offers. Second on my list is a cushioned headboard. Every time I look through my old domino magazines (tear) I just tell myself over and over again that we need to buckle down and get a beautiful cushioned headboard. Not only are they sleek and stylish, but when you’re laying in bed reading it’s just more comfortable. One of these days I’m going to break down and buy one, but in the mean time I’ll just day dream.
