Effortless Layering

What perfect layering. Living in San Francisco, this is how I dress year-round. Sad, I know.

Oh, how I love finding layering inspiration!

I'm Loving . . . Origami Invitations

I just came across these DIY origami heart engagement party invitations last night by Amy on Eat Drink Chic. She created these to send out to her wedding guests. If I could do it all over again, I would definitely take the time to put these together. They are incredibly cute!

Although it takes a lot of time printing, cutting, folding, sewing, stuffing, addressing and stamping. It's totally worth it in the end.
You can read more about these origami heart invitations here. Download the template to create a love note to someone special.

Hope you enjoy these cuties as much as I do.

Wednesday Wedding: Island Inspiration

When I thought Spring had arrived in San Francisco, the weather turned from beautiful blue skies to dark, cloudy and rainy. The only thing putting a smile on my face right now is the thought of being on my honeymoon in less than six weeks.

When I came across these beautiful seaside dreams feature that This Is Glamorous put together, it instantly made me think about how I will be sitting on the beaches of Kauai very, very soon.

I've been searching far and wide for a beautiful vacation wardrobe. I've succeeded in finding fabulous bathing suits, dresses and the perfect hat. But a girl always needs a few more things to put in her suitcase.

If you have any suggestions for last minute items I should be packing for my honeymoon, I would LOVE your recommendations!

Next week I'll give you a little sneak peek at the amazing house we rented.

Thompson Sisters: Antonia

Antonia's condo is the complete opposite of her sister Victoria's. Her decor aesthetic consists of mixing vintage and modern. She also has a mixture of high and low end decor. In Lonny, they best describe it as a bit of "hodgepodge" because she tends to decorate-as-she goes.

I can relate to how Antonia decorated her condo because that is exactly how I learned how to decorate from my
Mom. Just start collecting what you love and eventually you'll figure out how to put it all together.

The mix of modern and vintage in the living/dining room works perfectly together. I'm still amazed that Antonia was able to decorate most of her condo by shopping on eBay. Wish I was eBay savvy, but I haven't mastered it quite yet. It's definitely on my "things to learn" because the pieces she found are fabulous.

Almost anybody will kill to have a fireplace, but to have one this gorgeous is something I'm completely envious of.

Simple but chic, that's all you need to have a great looking bar.

Anything in Hermes orange adds just the right pop of color to any home. But filled with jewelry like this is just down right amazing.

All of you know I have a love for desks and this one is perfectly put together. It's clean, sleek and minimal, which makes me love it even more.

I hope you enjoyed looking at both Victoria and Antonia's beautiful condos. They are so different, but both condo's brought
me inspiration in different ways. I hope they brought you a little inspiration as well.

Thompson Sisters: Victoria

When I'm looking for a little inspiration I'm usually attracted to things I don't normally go for. Weird right? When I was thumbing (clicking, I like to think that it's printed magazine) through Lonny's third issue, I was drawn to the Thompson sister's apartments. They are world's apart in terms of design, yet Antonia and Victoria live in the same building.

Victoria's inspiration comes from the 50s and 60s. Her apartment is filled with bright patterns, Lucite, and lots of texture. If feels as though you should be in Palm Beach, not New York.

What I'm drawn to the most is the color palette. The turquoise and chartreuse are refreshing.

One thing that Lonny Magazine does a fabulous job at is featuring bars. Since they started I've been wanting one in my apartment. Once I move into a bigger apartment I hope to have a bar just like the one above. My favorite part is the apple, it's perfectly placed.

I've been inspired by the way people display their jewelry. I think putting the jewels you wear the most on a tray is the perfect way to have them on a dresser. That way you can quickly put the last touches of your outfit on in the morning.

Ok, I'm a HUGE tray lover. Probably because when you put items on trays it makes a room feel more organized. More importantly, I've been trying to find a heart-shaped bowl (like the one above). Does anyone know where it's from?

What an amazing desk. Other than the fact that everything is perfectly placed, the desk itself is great. I think anyone would love a desk that has a place to store magazines. I know I do.

Some of Victoria's favorite places: Apartment 48, Global Table, and Haus Interior in New York. Cashmere Buffalo and C. Bell in West Palm Beach.

Later today, I'll be posting on Antonia's apartment.

10 Things That Make Me Happy: Habitually Chic

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.

Today, I'm excited to have the one and only Heather from Habitually Chic blogging about what makes her happy. I was waiting with baited breath for her picks because I knew they would fill me with inspiration. When they arrived in my inbox I was even more excited about what came in. Her bookshelf is a library of inspiration, her perfume selection is divine and the shoes, well you'll just have to look at them below.

Heather is a interior designer working in New York City. One of her most recent projects was on a Bachelor Pad, which turned out amazing. I hope she starts to feature more of her client projects because she does a phenomenal job with each and every interior design job she works on.

Thank you Heather for blogging here today, I couldn't be more flattered.

Books – My bookshelves are overflowing but I can’t resist buying more art and design books. I find them so inspiring!

Art – I have a degree in art history so art is important to me personally and in my work. I don’t think any project looks finished until the art is hung. And it doesn’t have to cost a lot either. I’ve found some great paintings and watercolors on eBay!

Spring – I love autumn too but there is nothing better than seeing all the trees and flowers in bloom after I long cold winter! The tulips along Park Avenue make me happy every April!

Mario Badescu Facials – Not only are Mario Badescu facials wonderful but they are reasonably priced! They also sell amazing products. Martha Stewart is also a devotee so you know it’s a good thing! (Mario Badescu website)

Le Labo Perfume – Since I started wearing Le Labo Santal perfume last summer, I’ve had so many people ask me what I am wearing or tell me that I smell good. It’s a unique and interesting scent that isn’t too strong or cloying.

Traveling – I used to travel a lot but it’s hard to make the time to getaway when you are working for yourself. I plan to stop feeling guilty and get away more since I find traveling so inspiring and refreshing!

Shoes – Like any woman, I love beautiful shoes and I’ve been lucky to find a lot of great pairs on sale in New York including my favorite Roger Vivier sandals.

Dog Walkers – I love dogs but don’t have one yet so there is nothing I love more than seeing a cute pack of pooches being walking down the street by a dog walker. They always make me smile!

Orange – orange is my favorite color and always makes me happy, especially when it’s the color of cute classic cars!

Top Interior Designers – I am very lucky to live in New York where I can meet other interior designers and often run into them while shopping. I am inspired by those who have come before me such as Todd Romano, Steven Gambrel and Charlotte Moss and greatly admire their hard work and creativity!

Happy {Spring Blossoms} Weekend!

Spring has sprung here in San Francisco. The cherry blossoms are blooming, berries are starting to appear at the grocery store and days are slowly getting warmer.

Hopefully this weekend I can take advantage of my unplanned days with a trip to the farmers market, cooking some new recipes, enjoying long walks around the city and of course sleeping in on Sunday morning.

I hope all of you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by this week.

10 Things That Make Me Happy: Bits of Beauty

Happy President's Day everyone! I've been excited all weekend about Jennifer from Bits of Beauty's guest post. Ms. Jenn started Bits of Beauty back in in April 2009 as a place to share things that make life beautiful, in both traditional and untraditional ways. One of my favorite quotes from her blog is "if you give beauty you shall receive it in abundance." I couldn't agree with her more.

Jennifer works for Little Pink Book PR as a fashion editor. She also runs Bits of Beauty and is planning on launching a fashion blog in the next year. And if that wasn't enough, she helps small businesses to brand themselves online and offline.

I hope all of you enjoy Jennifer's 10 Things That Make Her Happy. Thanks so much for guest posting today Jennifer!

************************************************

Hello beautiful Sacramento Street readers! I'm flattered that Caitlin asked me to be part of her 10 things series. It was perfect timing, since I've been moving towards eliminating the unnecessary in my life. I've picked my absolute favorites to share with you, including a secret about my fragrance that I've never shared before! Enjoy!

1. Stripes: Stripes are my most recent obsession. I'm especially enamored with any relaxed shirts with stripes like the Fluxus sheer striped hoodie or the Splendid striped tee. {Bat hoodie $66 and Splendid Slub Pocket Stripe top $67 at Nordstroms}

2. Writing: I take every opportunity I can to exercise my pen, except journaling. I've never been a good diarist until I came across the Simple Diary. It really makes for interesting entries. {Available at Amazon $10}

3. Candles: I'm a sensualist, so I relish in scents that strike the right balance and smell great burning or not. My favorites are from Capri Blue and Voluspa. {$20 to $40 You can get either at Anthropologie.}

4. Laptop accessories: My whole world is on my macbook. I'd be in trouble if I didn't take care of it, so a chic bag is a must. I'm dying for this one from Violet May London. {Laptop case, $335.75}

5. Jewelry: I'm a big believer in having a wardrobe with plenty of simple, mixable pieces. I add interest to my outfits with a variety of jewelry. I love the standout designs at by Gwen Davis of Verderocks. {VerdeRocks $208} Of course, J. Crew {Crystal Lattice Necklace $325} and Anthro have great pieces. But, what I'm really dying to get are these shoulder chains from Chains of Love. {"Military" chain $150}

6. Hats: Besides jewelry, my other indulgence is a fabulous hat. People are so afraid of hats these days! {yestad millinery $286}

7. Bicycle: I just learned to ride over Christmas (finally!) and it makes me supremely happy to ride with my little boy. {Trek Pure Lowstep in Pink $439.99}

8. Travel: I like to just pick up and go on a whim. I love exploring new places and revisiting old favorites. This year, I'd love to take the munchkin to live somewhere new for a month or maybe three. {Rentals at, prices vary}

9. Violet: In Cuban culture, violet perfume is sprinkled on little girls and babies. Naturally, most of us are obsessed with the scent. Plus, I was born in February which has a Violet as the corresponding flower for the month. It's meant to be. {Violet oil from The Fragrance Shop $54 per 0.25 oz and Violet Anise pastilles via Amazon $9.99}

10. Books: For the longest, I wanted to be Meg Ryan with the little book shop in You've Got Mail. I adore books. I love that some books can impart knowledge while other books can transport and entertain you. By far, my favorite form of relaxation. {Elegance from Harper Collins available on Amazon $9}
