it's friday + a winner!

Happy Friday! Where did this week go? I feel like it started and then in a blink of an eye it was over. I'm ready for a weekend filled with lots of time at home - whether it's taking a nap, starting to figure out my art wall or just lounging in my bed catching up on shows I haven't had time to watch. It's a weekend filled with lovely indulgences. Including picking up some blossoms since May day is on Sunday, which was one of my favorite holidays when I was little. I can still see myself putting together bouquets for our neighbors.

Do you have any fun plans this weekend? Enjoy!

xx,
Caitlin

ps. The winner of the Minted giveaway is . . . Margaret, you've won and I'll be emailing you right away. Thank you all for entering.

spring staple

Finding a sample for spring that transitions into summer is hard to find. I've been searching far and wide for a go-to outfit but couldn't find anything until this week. This casual but chic ensemble was exactly what I was looking to find. The heels and leather jacket dress up the look, but the rolled up chinos and gray tee make it a little more casual for the months ahead. It must have been fate that I came across this because I just bought a pair of chinos from JCrew this weekend with a girlfriend - I left hoping to find inspiration for styling the pants, and voila, look what I came across.

I'm hoping these oxfords have a home in my closet soon! Have you found your staple look for this season?

a pop of jcrew . . .

This past weekend I had the pleasure of popping into the JCrew in Corta Madera - my favorite location in the Bay Area (Carmel's is out of this world too!). As I walked into the store I finally felt inspired to transition my wardrobe from winter to spring. It's time to bring out the cotton and color and store the wool. We all know that I'm a stripe-aholic - beware my fellowstripe lovers, the store is packed full of striped goodness along with pops of color that had my creative outfit juices flowing (Alicia and Taylor would have been so proud). In the end I walked away with loads of inspiration about what to do with clothes I already own. I also walked away with a pair of slouchy khaki pants to roll up.

I'm ready to bust out some pops of color in the next few days - especially since the sun is shining bright! Where are all of you finding spring outfit inspiration?

well-styled . . .

Every season Toast creates an inspiring catalogue that combines beautiful styling and dream-worthy locations that seem to always take my breath away. When I flipped to this feature within the catalogue my heart went a flutter. The mix of blue and white has a sweet spot in my heart.

Now, if only I could make a special trip to London just to go to Toast. I'd probably get in a wee bit of trouble.

finding fixtures

Since we've decided to stay in our apartment for a few more years I spent the weekend sifting through back issues of magazines for light fixture inspiration. Next week will mark our five year anniversary of moving into our apartment. When I first moved in I didn't think we'd be there for more than two years. But being in an amazing neighborhood, in a top floor apartment that faces a park is pretty rare. Last June we FINALLY painted and it completely transformed the entire look and feel. It's now a cozy oasis that feels more permanent since it's what we want. Now all I can think about is changing out the plain jane overhead lighting.

I'd love to find something like the above fixture - it would work well in either our kitchen or dining room. So my dears, the search is on and if you have any inspiration or favorite fixtures please link to them or let me know where you've been finding some lighting gems.

happy friday!

With Easter right around the corner I'm ready to kick up my feet this afternoon and enjoy getting off work a little bit early. Sometimes a few extra hours to run around the city with no schedule is a blessing - I'll be able to enjoy popping into my favorite consignment shops, grab a late afternoon tea with girlfriends and finally get my hair trimmed.

What are all of you up to this holiday weekend? Hope all of you have a wonderful Easter filled with family, yummy treats and hopefully a bit of sunshine.

a pop of color: pink + floral

I've been slowly cleaning out my closet putting heavy wool coats away and bringing out my linen tunics and seersucker jackets (although with this chilly weather I might have to halt the process). I've been assessing what needs to be added to my wardrobe and I think a pop of pink and a touch of floral will be the perfect addition to my neutral wardrobe. Plus, the fact that there are so many shades of pink and blush make it even more fun to work into my everyday ensembles. Are there any colors calling your name this Spring?

minted giveaway!

Back in February, I was asked to be a judge on Minted to pick my favorite baby or bridal shower invitation. Being a paper/stationary-aholic I jumped at the opportunity. After sifting through hundreds and hundreds of beautiful designs the one that stood out the most was called "Umbrella of Advice" designed by the lovely Carrie O'Neal.
What drew me to this baby shower invite was the use of beautiful typefaces and the vintage feel of the umbrella. Growing up my mom would give me old French books from flea markets to do crafts with - this brought back a lot of those memories. I'm hoping I can use this invitation for the next baby shower I host!
Tomorrow all of the shower invitations that won from this design challenge will be up for sale. I couldn't be more excited for all of these amazing designers that put so much time into these invitations.

Well, I'm incredibly excited to announce that one lucky reader will win a $150 Minted gift certificate! Just pop over to Minted and then leave a comment here telling us which invitations or stationary you would purchase with the certificate.

A lucky winner will be chosen Wednesday, April 27th (ending at midnight PST) and please be sure to leave your email address if you don't have it in your blogger profile.

Invitations: one, two, three (coming soon), four, and five

kitchen envy

Do you ever dream of having sky high ceilings? Well, feast your eyes on this beauty . . .
When I came across this stunning kitchen over on Delight by Design I was in awe - the ceiling, the stone, the cleans lines and of course a touch of rustic are all ideal elements I look for in a kitchen. It's the perfect mix of old and new. What do you look for in a kitchen?

a breath of warm weather . . .

The saying "April showers brings May flowers" is what I find myself saying when a cold rainy day approaches in April. I always hope that it will turn my frown up-side-down. This year has been unseasonably cold throughout the entire country and I think we're all ready for some warm days spent outside reading with a cold glass of lemonade and gathering around an outside table for late night dinners or mimosa brunches. So mother nature, if you can hear me, could you please send all of us some warm rays of sunshine?

TGIF!

This morning I had the pleasure of waking up as the sun was just rising in order to make a small trip to the flower market. It's always hard to force yourself out of a cozy bed that early, but when fresh blooms are awaiting you it's completely worth it. As I walked into the flower building the air transitioned into a scent I didn't think existed. It was heavenly. There were flowers of every kind in bloom and when I finally hunted down my coveted dogwood, lilac and ranunculus I was a happy camper, ready to take on a Friday filled with work.

Spring has finally arrived and I'm ready to spend some quality time at home enjoying the all of my fresh blooms.

Hope all of you have a lovely weekend ahead of you and if you pass a flower stand, be sure to pick up something special for yourself. All of us deserve a little something after a long week of work.

xx, Caitlin

PS. Don't forget, it's the last day to enter the Lo & Sons handbag giveaway! Be sure to enter before midnight tonight. I'll be announcing the winner on Monday.

a return to my favorites

What a busy week, I've been running around working 24/7, but when you love what you do working around the clock doesn't seem to matter. I've posted this office multiple times, I find it an incredibly inspiring place to work day in and day out - don't you? Someday, I hope to have a office this beautiful!

With that said, I've been turning to my trusty skinny jeans, camel tote and adding a touch of spring with open toed heels and a light weight top. The perfect combination for my hectic schedule. Do you have a go-to outfit that you gravitate to when you're on the run?

At least tomorrow is Friday . . . hip hip hooray!

living room: which one do you adore?

I adore Trad Home, it's beautiful, sleek and incredibly well edited. It's one of the first magazines to actually get me charged up in a very long time! My head is swirling with loads of inspiration - I'm excited to welcome it into the online magazine world.

Although I was drawn to many rooms, the living rooms are what got my heart beating ten times faster. Maybe it's because I'm working on a few clients living rooms at the moment, or maybe it's because I've been longing to redecorate my own, in the end all of these living rooms caught my eye.

So I ask you, which one of these stunning living rooms do you adore? Is there a piece of furniture you want for your own home?

the perfect mix . . .

On this gloomy morning, I needed a little burst of colors to brighten up my day. This ensemble by the ever so lovely Lucy of Lucy Laucht did just that. The color combination with the nude shoes, colorful statement necklaces and brown accessories is fresh and inspiring. Just what the doctor ordered during April showers.

sponsor post: lo & sons + giveaway!

About a month ago it occurred to me that I was toting around three canvas bags to work every day - not very efficient or chic. That's when I realized that all of my beautiful handbags didn't work for commuting back and worth to work when I was carrying so many things with me. The quest was on to find the ultimate bag that suited my needs - light, large and basic. That's when I came across Lo & Sons, a company started by a mother and her two sons to turn their mothers dream into reality. They did that and far more.

I received the O.G. handbag right before my trip to Santa Fe and knew it would be the perfect travel carry on. As I laid out everything that was going to have to go into the travel tote I quickly realized that it probably wouldn't fit, but I made this attempt - low and behold everything above and more! I had to pick my jaw up from off the ground . . . it was amazing.

When I got back from my journey to Santa Fe I couldn't stop using my O.G. and in fact I've used it every day for work and love it. It holds everything; my work computer, lunch, gym shoes, and purse essentials. Somehow it never feels like it's too bulky like the other bags I've used in the past. I have since named my O.G. the Organizational Genius, yes I'm a dork, but all of the different pockets and pouches make it easy for me to be efficient and know where everything is at all times.

And this, is why I'm BEYOND excited to share that one lucky reader will win a Lo & Sons the O.G. tote - perfect for any summer travel and bringing all your things to work every day. Be sure to check out the Lo & Sons site (be sure to watch their video), and then leave a comment here about why you'd love to win this handbag!

A lucky winner will be chosen this coming Friday (ending at midnight PST) and please be sure to leave your email address if you don't have it in your blogger profile.

But there is more! Lo & Sons is giving all Sacramento Street readers 40% off any handbag until April 30th. To redeem enter this discount code: SACSTREET.

Best of luck everyone!

a pop of color: NEON

Alright, I've got yet another Clare Vivier crush - seriously how does she do it? Last week it was the poppy red foldover clutch and this week it is the La Pochette that's in neon. I have a feeling there are some readers that are going to fall head over heels for this burst of bright color! I'm definitely a fan of this simple yet striking pouch - it's a perfect place to keep important treasures.

Let it be known, I now check her site multiple times a week for the new it handbag.

a new week lies ahead . . .

The gorgeous simplicity of this entry is truly divine. Along with the unique woven radiator, which is brilliant. Why can't they all look this chic?

Hope each and every one of you had a marvelous weekend. Anything exciting happen? We had a wonderful low-key anniversary, which is exactly what both of us needed. A little drive up to Napa was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you all for the well wishes.

I'm ready for a lovely week of possibilities and the hopes that it goes by quickly.

it's friday!

It's been a busy little week - it's nice that Friday has finally arrived. This weekend is a special one. Eric and I will be celebrating our one year anniversary! I'm in complete shock that it's already been a year, I think that's a good sign.

We've got a special day planned on Sunday - a beautiful drive up to Napa through the rolling vineyards, glasses of bubbly, delicious food and most of all we'll be enjoying quality time with each other. I can't wait to spend the day with my best friend, soulmate and loving husband.

Hope all of you have a lovely weekend ahead of you!

casual weekend date

This weekend Eric and I will be celebrating our one year wedding anniversary. Time flies! It feels like just a few months ago we were packing up the car and heading to Yountville.

Since it creeped up on us , we're having a low-key date up in Yountville to have lunch at Bottega. My mouth is watering just thinking about their ricotta gnocchi - YUM. I started dreaming up what to wear on our date and this seemed like the perfect ensemble - bright blue dress, a casual pump and of course girly nails.

Now if only this dress could appear in my closet . . .
